A Break is not a Break... Print E-mail
2006 Blog
Hello and Happy post-Thanksgiving! I went to KY for the week, and had a great time with old friends and family...it reminds me, always, what a gift my friends are, and how much love and support they give!! I hope during this time (for the next couple of weeks) that everyone has a chance to catch up on old videos, past articles and such...For the time being, we are airing the Highlights video that turned out to be a fun piece!! In the "down-time", I will be writing, working, collaborating all of the goodies and making decisions on how best to move forward from here. I appreciate all of the support and interest about A Girl Named Guy and it's mission...to inspire you to see the Gifts in your own life! We've had numerous people interested in contributing in one way or another, and I am looking at a bunch of options. Please, keep the feedback coming!! Sending lots of laughter, health and peace to you as you embark on the Holidays!!! Love, lg

2006 Blog
So, in my Good Living article next week, I kinda went on a rant - not a terribly horrible one, but a true one. We all need to vent from time to time - boy, it feels good. New Topic: I spent Halloween at the Doctor's office and traffic court - a combination that I really don't want to fill another day with for quite some time. The doctor's was great. I drove out to see Dr. Fuhrman, and got the usual blood-work, check-up, girly check, the whole 9. As much as I hate going to the doctor, this time was different. If you saw the Healthy parenting episode, then you've seen his office and the type of care that he gives his patients. This made all of the difference in the world. We spent probably 30 minutes talking about my diet, my body and so on....I've never had a doctor spend that much time, if any, talking about my needs in this way. Yeah, the blood part still freaked me out, but somehow when you know someone really cares, it makes it that much easier. Oh, and my blood pressure? 86 over 40! I'm either half dead, or will live forever....there's a fine line on that one. The traffic court - got my $42 ticket reduced to $12, made a new friend and walked out of there thinking "That was worth it" - I don't care about the money...it's the principle. Anyway - hope your Halloween was a fun one! Got a good story? I wanna hear it!

2006 Blog
i wanted to give the heads up for upcoming shows...this way, if anyone has questions that would like to be addressed or specific information, you can email me and we'll incorporate them!! I did this on the upcoming show, Iridology, and it was great! So, we going to be doing a show on Healthy School Lunches, through a coalition that is hosting a fundraiser in Harlem....there will tons of "people you know" in the show, and lots of inspiring stories. Then, we are headed to baltimore to cover the latest trends in the health industry - highlighting all of the companies, their products, etc. so, if you want particular info, or to check out a company - let me know! hope you are enjoying the shows!!

it's labor day weekend...yes, it is. just got out of a great yoga class. it was prana power yoga in nyc. with a heated room...did I sweat?! good class though. if you have prana in your area, check it out. if you are in L.A., go see Bryan Kest in Santa Monica - he's a super teacher for power yoga (no heated room though, you'll sweat enough on your own!) I've been doing yoga at home lately with Rodney Yee, but it's just not the same. The yoga instructor tonight mentioned this and I think it's true...when you do yoga, or other forms of discipline for that matter, with a group, there is so much more energy behind it and i find that i definitely get more out of it. so now i'm on the hunt for great classes. lots of wonderful feedback about this weeks' show - there sure are some animal lovers in the world ;) and that's a good thing! i think i'm just now over that bull's penis. i swear, i about died when i saw that thing! there must be some happy cows out there is all i can say about that. enjoy your weekend. don't do anything laborious...take the time to treat yourself well. cheers!

so me and my friend sharon are sitting in the apartment, zoning out with the tv on, both laptops going and pda's in use as needed. this is the antithesis of what i consider to be "healthy", but it's the way we have to operate sometimes, isn't it? i think the key is to get what needs to be done, then dis-engage. i know of people who have become internet addicts, like, serious problems... so, i'm logging off, turning the tv off, will sit in silence for a bit, find a good book and detox my brain. buenos noches (is that right?) plug: don't forget to check out the recipe page!
