Happy almost New Year!! I hope as you prepare for the upcoming year, you take a minute to reflect on all of the happenings of '06. People set new resolutions, and often don't even consider what it means to "be different" than before. The most popular, "I want to loose weight", is projected to the future by means of 1) eating less, 2) exercising more or 3) developing a whole new diet scheme for a certain period of time. What my hope is that people would take some time to look at the behaviours, the feelings, the circumstances that got them to the present moment, which is calling for a change. For example, if it is weight you are wanting to loose, how did your body get to its current state? Was is emotional eating, not caring, being lazy, uneducated choices? And the idea of "changing" - what does that mean to your spirit, your confidence? If you take some time to review your whole being and the state of feeling through all of the choices you make, it may be create a more permanent lifestyle change than just simply saying - "In '07, I'm going to do ______ better." We all have an innate desire to be the best that we can be. That desire is often squelshed by fear, resentment, insecurities, etc. So, as you listen to your mind and heart, (and your body!) take action on its calling to exceed the current status quo, and do it in a way that has lasting effect by respecting the place you are coming from and honoring the lessons it has taught you. In this light, the awareness comes from a deeper place of meaning, rather than just a desire to see different results.
